Search Engine Results Page
It’s a marketing channel. When someone is searching for something on the web or we are trying to rank for a keyword on the web - we want to show up in the SERP… when someone types in the word.
Each SERP is a marketing channel and we can improve our results by changing the message we’re offering in that marketing channel and where we bring searchers when they find our listing.
Our listing - which is the title and description of our website is our message to searchers as to why they should click our link, visit our site and what they should be thinking about as they wait to be brought to our page.
The search engine link or message then creates expectations that our web page must then try to meet. The challenge is to get multiple pages to rank for different keywords as opposed to the same web page (e.g., your home page) ranking for different keywords, that is the trick.
Google, Yahoo and Ask - double indent when multiple pages rank for the same keyword. Bing does not indent - so it shows up as a double listing.
